This project connected LGBTQ+ women using the long lost art of letter writing, running from February 2017 to February 2018. A strong support system is vital for LGBTQ+ people of all ages. Pen Gals was a way for women to share experiences, information and support across the generations. GENDER TROUBLES: THE BUTCHES
There are plenty stereotypes of butch women out there, and the interviews with butch identified women in this documentary by Lisa Plourde show us that there’s a lot more to this identity than we’re led to believe. Alongside the main feature we showed The Test Shot a photo documentary project about transmasculine style, and the short film Switching Teams by local filmmaker, Taylor Le Fin. The film, produced by E.D.E.N Film is a documentation of Taylor’s journey in finding the gender identity that felt right to him, and the way the Sheffield roller derby community supported this journey.
