CELEBRATING QUEER CULTURE

Gender Awareness Training

an androgynous white person with cropped brown hair sits at a table in front of a screen that has a projection it it. They have their arms outstretched in conversation and wear a grey Andro and Eve logo T shirt.

This course was incredibly helpful and has given me lots of knowledge about gender appropriate language and more confidence in using it both personally and professionally.

We deliver training for businesses and organisations in gender awareness. We can do this online or in person with options on session length available. Please fill in the form below for more information or to book.

Drawing upon our extensive experience in meeting the needs of the LGBTQIA community in creating safe and inclusive events, we have a range of training packages available that can support your team to meet the needs of clients, customers and service users of all genders, particularly those who fall under the Transgender umbrella.

Our Gender Awareness Training sessions are pitched at different levels to support team members at different stages of learning and development. It is an excellent way for your organisation to develop its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices.

Our training is delivered by one of Andro and Eve’s Gender Awareness Trainers who are highly experienced professional trainers and facilitators. For online training, we can also provide an assistant to support the session and manage tech.

For all sessions, participants are given a resource pack covering key information and links to further reading after the session.

If you have specific aims in mind that might not be covered in the sessions outlined below we can also offer bespoke training packages – please get in touch to discuss and for a quote. Our training sessions are:

Gender Awareness Training – Main Session

This session is designed to pass on knowledge and best practice enabling your team to better serve and meet the needs of clients, customers and service users of all genders, particularly those who fall under the Transgender* umbrella.

Topics covered include language and terminology, intersectionality, non-binary identities, gender in a global context, feminism, LGBTQ+ chronology, transgender health and equality and the law. We use practical exercises and group discussions to help participants relate to the subject and develop their understanding.

This training session is designed as a 3-hour session inclusive of breaks.

It can accommodate up to 20 people online or in person

A really valuable session – it covers the legal and practical aspects (and flaws!) and discusses ways forward. It encourages empathy and reflection. Really well facilitated.

Gender Beyond the Binary

This session looks at the experiences of people who are non-binary and gender expansive within the UK and in a global context. This session will enable your team to better serve and meet the needs of clients, customers and service users of all genders, particularly those who are gender expansive or non-binary.

Topics covered in this session include language and terminology, intersectionality, non-binary identities, gender in a global context, feminism, lived experiences of non-binary people and transgender health and equality and the law.

Gender Awareness: Going Further

This session is aimed at those who have already undertaken our 2.5-hour Gender Awareness Training Main Session or who have already undertaken LGBTQ+ Awareness Training in the last two years and can be delivered online or in person.

The Going Further session is designed to deepen participants’ knowledge, further increasing the confidence of participants to support trans, non-binary and gender minoritised people in professional and social situations.

Topics include further exploitation of language and terminology around sex and gender, the coloniality of gender, the importance of trans stories, and some of the most pressing in today’s conversations around trans and non-binary people’s rights. Those issues include healthcare for trans adults, gender-affirming care for young people and access to sports and single-sex services.

This training session is designed as a 2.5-hour session inclusive of a 10-minute break.

It can accommodate up to 20 people online or in person.

It was a lot of fun and really informative. I feel much more confident in my knowledge and feel I am better able to oppose outdated opinions and be an ally to the trans community.

Brilliant training course, good to know more about the history so you are able to empathise. Would recommend the training within work as it helps to start the conversation to bring change, big or small. It’s a start!
